British Council Radio Programmes

Skills Up! is a four-part radio show produced to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week produced as part of Skills for Employability, British Council’s project in technical and vocational education.

The programme captures the views of young people looking to engage with employment, the importance of developing the right skills for the workplace and how SfE has supported them by providing opportunities to widen their experience through international collaboration.

Youth Radio Signs First Sponsors for 10th Anniversary Broadcast

 

Eastbourne Youth Radio is delighted to welcome the first twenty four sponsors that will be taking an active part in programmes when they are broadcast between 17th and 19th November.

Organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership and Sussex Downs College the project, celebrating its 10th anniversary, is firmly rooted in the Eastbourne annual calendar and is eagerly looked forward to by everyone involved. Support from sponsors plays a key part in the continued sustainability of the project.

Hundreds of students aged 5-20 from 21 schools and colleges together with Eastbourne Foyer and Radio DGH will deliver over 50 hours of continuous broadcasting on both 87.7FM and www.eyr.org.uk

Junior Engineers 2010

Ten teams of four Year 2 pupils from Eastbourne schools participated in this brand new challenge event at the Congress Suite on Monday 28th June 2010.

The challenge was organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership on behalf of the Eastbourne & Hailsham Consortium of Schools. It follows the very successful Young Engineers event for older pupils in January.

Former EYR Student Success

Joe Haddow, a former Sussex Downs College student, travelled back to Eastbourne to talk to students recently about his career and his work experience.

Joe, who was at the college from 2001 – 2003, studied media, drama, film studies, photography and English. He became interested in radio at the age of 13 when he got involved with hospital radio at DGH by collecting requests on the wards and fundraising at local events.

Young Chefs 2010

Pupils from Cavendish, Ratton, Causeway and St. Bede’s schools competed at the 2010 Eastbourne Young Chef finals at The Cavendish School, on Tuesday 6 July

The competition, now in its fifteenth year, was organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership in conjunction with The Grand Hotel. The finalists were asked to design a 3-course menu and had ninety minutes in which to prepare their main dish for judging.
