Junior Engineers 2010

Ten teams of four Year 2 pupils from Eastbourne schools participated in this brand new challenge event at the Congress Suite on Monday 28th June 2010.

The challenge was organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership on behalf of the Eastbourne & Hailsham Consortium of Schools. It follows the very successful Young Engineers event for older pupils in January.

Young Chefs 2010

Pupils from Cavendish, Ratton, Causeway and St. Bede’s schools competed at the 2010 Eastbourne Young Chef finals at The Cavendish School, on Tuesday 6 July

The competition, now in its fifteenth year, was organised by Eastbourne Education Business Partnership in conjunction with The Grand Hotel. The finalists were asked to design a 3-course menu and had ninety minutes in which to prepare their main dish for judging.

Eastbourne Achievers Awards 2010

THE OVERALL Achiever of the Year Award was given to a 14- year-old selfless boy who cares for his mother. Daniel Brown, from Langney, was described by the Achievers judges as a ‘god-send’ to his mother, who suffers from bipolar disorder with other complications. He was not only given the Overall Achiever of the Year Award, but was invited up on stage at the beginning of the evening to collect the award for Outstanding Volunteer or Carer. The Overall Achiever category was sponsored by Sussex Downs College. Hilary Morgan-Jones, head of employability programmes at the college, presented the award to Daniel.

10th Anniversary Launch for EYR

Eastbourne Youth Radio will commence their 10th anniversary celebrations with a breakfast launch event for sponsors and community partners at Sussex Downs College on Friday 28th May.

Leading the guest list will be new Eastbourne MP, Stephen Lloyd and the Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr Carolyn Heaps.
