Looking back over the year

Pupils from St. John’s Meads helped the Mayor, Cllr Greg Szanto, to plant out their winning ‘Wildlife’ carpet garden at Holywell in June. Hankham win the 2009 Seaside In-Bloom in March.

Eastbourne Youth Radio broadcast for the 8th year on 87.7fm and the internet in November. Programmes included ‘Answer Back’, with Nigel Waterson MP, and the popular ‘Meet the Media’ plus over 50 hours of music, drama, interviews and live features. Over 1500 students from 22 schools and colleges took part supported by 35 sponsors.

A Partnership for the Future

As Tim Sorensen reports in his annual summary, the Eastbourne EBP has continued to play a leading role in the all-important relationship between education, both teachers and students, and the business community of Eastbourne and district. High profile and familiar events spearhead the awareness factor for the EBP, but this year has also been one of strategic review for future prosperity and employment.

Another Chapter Begins

The past few months have seen Eastbourne EBP write a new chapter as it begins life as an independent service that continues to broker links between education and business in Eastbourne and Hailsham. The partnership is no stranger to change since launching in the mid-80s as ‘Industry Matters’.
